Hi, I'm Nikki!
I am a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) who is passionate about bridging the gap between speech, language and literacy. I have six years of experience working in the public school system with a variety of ages and disabilities including: intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, speech sound disorders, developmental delay, and specific learning disability. I also have experience in the hospital setting focused on swallowing evaluations.
I am:
A Certified SLP: I obtain a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
A Language and Literacy Specialist: As a SLP, I have an extensive knowledge in language and how it relates to reading and/or reading disorders. I use elements of evidence based practices in my sessions to ensure your child’s reading success.
Knowledgable about IEPs and ESE: Working in the school system has provided me with extensive knowledge surrounding the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process and development as well as the provision of ESE services.
NLA Trained: I am trained in Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) to support gestalt language processing (GLP) (i.e. children who use delayed echolalia to communicate).
An AAC expert: I have a passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) use to help children communicate more effectively. I have experience working with various communication applications and can work to find the best option for you and your family. I am also GLP + AAC trained.
Neurodiversity Affirming: I recognize and celebrate different ways of being and communicating across different disabilities and believe in using a strengths based focus and child-centered approach to therapy.
